Al Unlocked – Where I’ve Been, What’s to Come

It’s been a good few months since I last posted, and big things have happened since then. I want to take this post to explain where I’ve been, as well as to detail some concrete plans for Al Unlocked in the future!

I moved!

I’ve most likely mentioned it before in older posts or on my stream, but I actually did move. Twice even! At the end of June the lease on our apartment in Victoria ended, so we moved back to our hometown of Nanaimo until the end of July. When the end of July rolled around, we packed up the car with everything we could carry and drove all the way across Canada so that we could make it to our new apartment in Montreal for August! We’ve been taking the time to explore the city and get ourselves settled into our neighbourhood, but now I’ll be refocusing my efforts on writing and streaming (also finding a job…).

The Website

While running the site up until the summer I came to the realization that I might have bit off a bit more than I can chew when it comes to how many different games I was covering at once, so I’m going to be both lowering my scope with the amount of content I’m doing at once, and slightly refocusing the type of content I’ll be writing. I’m going to be taking a bit more of a focus on indie titles in the future. There’s a lot of under-appreciated gems out there and I want to highlight that! This won’t mean I’m going to abandon AAA titles in the slightest, and it doesn’t even mean that it’s going to take that much of a backseat. It will most likely turn out to be about two indie titles for every one AAA title I cover. Mind you, this will all happen once I’ve finally caught up with everything else I’ve started. So here’s my plan for the website going forward:

  1. Finish Progressive Looks & Al Unlocked Reviews for Soulcalibur VI
  2. Finish Progressive Looks & Al Unlocked Reviews for Forza Horizon 4
  3. Write Al Downloaded for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: Joker
  4. Finish Progressive Looks & Al Unlocked Reviews for Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition
  5. Finish Progressive Looks & Al Unlocked Reviews for Mortal Kombat 11

After I finish all this I will only be focusing on 1-2 games at a time, one Progressive Looks/Al Unlocked Reviews, and one side series like Al Downloaded. Hopefully this will turn into more consistent content for you and less periods of burnout for me!

The Stream

I’ve enjoyed streaming my gameplay for the sake of the website, but I’ll be trying to tone down how much effort I’ve been putting into the stream for the time being. I’ll be shooting for three streams a week, with at least one of those days for chill times playing whatever game I want at the time and hanging out with viewers. I’m not 100% sure about which days will be the regular stream days yet since I don’t have my routine nailed down yet, but I’ll be sure to update everyone once everything’s calmed down a bit. I’m also going to try and be a LOT more active on social media, so take a look at those links down below if you haven’t already. Keep an eye out for my first stream back at it on Tuesday, September 3rd!

I have to give a big thank you to people who have followed my content in the past and to everyone who will still be reading what I post and watching me when I stream. I’m very excited for what the future has in store for Al Unlocked, and I hope you are too. Stay tuned!
